ABOUT THE ROLE

Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally-Raid, and a variety of global customer racing activities. We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Hydraulics Technician to join our busy Hydraulics Department at our Dovenby Hall headquarters.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the assembly, preparation, maintenance and delivery of high-performance hydraulic systems and components for competition cars. Working closely with Engineering, Design, Workshop, Quality Control and other technical departments, you will ensure hydraulic systems are manufactured, assembled and maintained to the highest standards of quality, reliability and performance.

The role responsibilities include:

Hydraulic System Assembly: Assemble, install and prepare hydraulic systems and components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and build requirements.

Component Preparation: Prepare hydraulic components, fittings, hoses, pipes and associated equipment for installation and assembly.

System Testing: Carry out pressure testing, functional testing and inspection of hydraulic systems to ensure they meet required performance and safety standards.

Technical Drawings: Interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic schematics and technical information to accurately assemble and maintain hydraulic systems.

Fault Finding: Diagnose and resolve hydraulic system faults, leaks and performance issues using a methodical and practical approach.

Maintenance & Repair: Carry out maintenance, repair and refurbishment of hydraulic components and systems to ensure vehicles remain operational and reliable.

Quality & Standards: Ensure all hydraulic work is completed to the required quality standards, specifications and procedures, maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and reliability.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Design, Workshop, Quality Control and other technical departments to ensure projects are delivered on time.

General Workshop Duties: Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are kept in a clean, safe and effective condition.

Essential Criteria & Skills:

Education: Educated to Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Light Vehicle Maintenance, Motorsport Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Hydraulics Knowledge: Good knowledge of hydraulic principles, components, systems and safe working practices.

Technical Drawings: Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.

Assembly Skills: Strong practical skills with the ability to accurately assemble and install hydraulic components and systems.

Quality & Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with a strong understanding of the importance of accuracy, repeatability and quality.

Problem Solving: Strong practical problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hydraulic faults and issues.

Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Organisation: Good organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and meet agreed deadlines.

Safety Awareness: Good understanding of workshop health and safety requirements and safe working practices.

Preferred Experience:

Previous experience working within a high-performance, precision engineering, motorsport or automotive environment.
