Workshop Technician - High-Performance & Motorsport Specialist

We are continuing to grow, with our new expanded facility underway, bringing fresh equipment, new ramps, improved workflow and a workshop built for the next stage of Ecotune.

We are now looking for an experienced technician to join the team. This role is aimed at someone with strong hands-on workshop experience, confident diagnostic ability, and the skills to work on more involved mechanical jobs to a high standard.

This is not a junior role or a basic servicing position. We are looking for someone who can bring experience, accuracy and pride in their work from day one.

The Role

In this role, you will be involved in a wide range of specialist workshop work, including diagnostics, mechanical repairs, performance upgrades, engine work, clutch and gearbox-related work, turbocharger work, servicing, inspections and vehicle preparation.

A large part of our workload is based around Volkswagen Group vehicles, including Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Cupra, although we also work with a range of other performance and specialist vehicles.

You will be expected to work carefully, think logically, diagnose properly and take ownership of the jobs you are given.

What You’ll Do

- Carry out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repairs to a high standard - Work on performance and specialist vehicles - Fit and support performance upgrades, including turbocharger, intake, exhaust, cooling, fuelling and suspension components - Carry out engine-related work, timing work, clutch/flywheel work, gearbox and drivetrain-related repairs where required - Diagnose and solve mechanical and electrical faults using proper process, not guesswork - Prepare vehicles for dyno testing, road testing and performance calibration - Complete inspections, job notes and reports accurately - Support other members of the workshop team where required - Maintain Ecotune’s standards for quality, reliability, cleanliness and professionalism

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced technician who can bring genuine workshop ability to the team.

Essential

- Minimum 6 years’ workshop experience - NVQ Level 3 / SVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent - Strong hands-on mechanical ability - Confident diagnostic and fault-finding skills - Experience with engine repairs, timing work, clutch/gearbox work or turbocharger replacement - Full UK driving licence - Good attention to detail - Ability to work independently and take ownership of jobs - Positive attitude and willingness to continue learning

Desirable

- Experience with Volkswagen Group vehicles, including VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda or Cupra - Main dealer, independent specialist or performance workshop background - Experience with modified, performance or motorsport vehicles - Experience supporting, mentoring or leading other technicians - Experience with advanced diagnostics, wiring faults or control systems

Hours

- Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 5:30pm - Alternate Saturdays: 10:00am to 2:00pm - Occasional flexibility may be required for special builds, events or motorsport-related work
